Hunter’s Dry held their Longest Day activation on the 21st December 2012 when four participants enjoyed a full day of outdoor activities to chase the heat on the longest day of the year. Agency 140BBDO asked AUGUST to record the activation and set up a live-stream of the day, allowing fans to catch the action online and thus encourage greater interaction with the brand through Twitter and Facebook.
AUGUST used two camera setups: one captured decisive moments which were edited into short clips on the fly and posted online through the day; the second streamed footage directly to the internet onto a livestream.com page setup for the day.
The combination allowed us to connect fans of Hunter’s with the live action of participants busy with outdoor activities like surfing, paragliding and boating out in Table Bay. Over 6,000 viewer minutes were logged on the Hunter’s streaming channel during the day’s broadcast.
Creative director at 140BBDO Johann Schwella said: “We approached August with quite a complicated task, filming and live streaming a full day with no scripting and at eight locations throughout the day. They came back with an innovative tech solution and a plan which they executed perfectly which allowed us to reach all our goals.”
